Beer and Whisky Writer Michael Jackson
I have just been informed that famed beer and whisky writer Michael Jackson passed away last night during his sleep. This is a big loss for those who have enjoyed his wit and prose for many years with Beer and Scotch. I have only spoken with him in passing over the years while at whisky shows but never had a real opportunity to sit down and break bread. I am sure he is having a fine dram where ever he may be.
Slainte,
Jeff

In that regard he actually was a genius. I knew him reasonably well, and his passing is the end of an era in whisky appreciation and writing. All too many of what I would describe as the Real Whisky People have "moved on" in recent times. Let us sincerely hope that Michael is enjoying a large malt, where ever he may be and in the knowledge that his legacy will out live all of us. Sir John

Jackson truly knew how to manifest the "terroir" for scotch whisky, transporting the reading to another land. You simply can't read it without pouring yourself a dram.
