Very pleased to announce that the The Westin Great Southern in Columubs, OH now carries the Wild Scotsman Black Label and Blend No. 888.
I met with the bar staff and management today to share my passion and inspiration for the Wild Scotsman Black Label Vatted Malt Scotch and the history and back ground of Blend No. 888. Being able to present my whisky to the very people who sell it is very important to both me and my brand. In the spirit of Tommy Dewar and Arthur Bell I will sell each bottle one person at a time if given the opportunity.
WHO’S BEHIND YOUR BRAND?

Wow…I must be a bad blogger or someone who is just doing too many things with so little time. I left off my last post heading to the Louis Glunz Wines fall preview show. The Westin was a great location for the show. We had a wonderful room with high ceilings which is important if you are wearing 6 yards of 16oz wool and enough long hair to spare for 4 people. Since Glunz only has two spirits vendors (new one this year) the hall was filled with lots of wine! I could basically come, set up, and leave as I am only needed for the last 2 hours of the show. No one would want to intoxicate their sense of taste and smell before drinking wine, except for one of my biggest Chicago retailer fans, Gene, from Warehouse Liquors who just comes to talk scotch and leaves the wine tasting to his staff (look for a store tasting soon at his Shop with me).
I did find two gems for my wine tastes at the after party. First was the 2007 cabernet sauvignon Volunteer which is a mix of different grapes from several vineyards in Nappa Valley. I could not find any details on this wine except I was told that this was a creation from an associate of the producer for ThePrisoner (quite enjoy that wine as well). The Second was a bottle of Sabina Vineyards Cab Sauv 2006 which was just what this Scotsman needed after a long day. I would say that both wines were enjoyable. I would prefer the Sabina with a big porterhouse steak and the Volunteer relaxing at home after a long day. Either way great wines!
The day after the show was a mixed bag of traffic jams, changing schedules, and a rolling with the punches. My new wholesaler, Hoosier Wines and Spirits, in Indiana called and stated his staff was taken out with the flu! The good side was that I could lie in my king size bed and have a few more cups of coffee the bad side was now I had to cancel a series of hotel reservations and work on a new schedule and quick! A million things ran through my mind like a shot gun blast through a squirrels nest. In the end I had to stay with the plan as I had cases of whisky to be delivered and all I needed was a red suit.
I fought traffic for an hour getting to Glunz and dropped of my shipment (note to self..stay at a closer hotel). Next stop Indianapolis, via the outer belt around Chicago. I would rather drive a few extra miles and keep moving than sit around in traffic. I am a firm believer that things in motion stay in motion. I was in Indy by 1730/hrs and headed home. The next day was filled with meetings in Columubus, OH and then a trip to Louisville, KY for another show.
Cheers,

I left Friday morning for an early meeting with my wholesaler, Bryant Distributing, in Louisville, KY and then headed to Lexington, KY. My wife was a featured performer at The Scare Fest for the Costume Ball on Friday and Vip Party on Saturday. She put on a great show as I do not believe anyone has ever seen belly dancing to Rob Zombie.
Drove from Lexington, KY back to Cincinnati, OH to unload and un-pack just to load and pack. A wopping 2 hours at home! Got in the car, lit a cigar, and headed 4 1/2 hours north to Chicago. Stopped only long enough to get a cup of joe at the Piloton the way.
Have no fear Wild Scotsman Scotch lovers I do not stay downtown an add to the cost of my whisky. There is no pomp or pretence here. I am proud to say that I am a Holiday Inn Express kind of guy. Two nights at the HI is still less than one night downtown. I will leave the Fat Catting to those sales guys on expense accounts, I work for a living.
Up early in the AM to get ready for a great afternoon at the Glunz Fall Preview Show.
Good night!
Jeff

Winter Tour has come to an End
Being on the road has both its ups and downs. The “ups” are introducing new people to the brands and sharing our passion for great Scotch Whisky. The “downs” are driving hundreds of miles, sleeping in hotels, and being away from my family. I never get tired of what I do and I only have to look at a picture of my wife and daughter each morning to know why I do what I do. One cannot run on passion alone. There must be a purpose outside of work for which the fruit of my passion and labor will hopefully benefit from.
John McDougall is safely back home in Scotland with his family, however, here is a shot from the road. Here John is educating on/off premise establishment owners and staff on our brands at Heidelberg Distribution in Cincinnati, OH

Cheers from my home and not from the road.
