John McDougall 70th Anniversary Bottling

John McDougall 70th Anniversary Bottling
By Jeffrey Topping

I have a note below from John McDougall who is the only living Master Distiller and Master Blender of Scotch Whisky in the World. He is approaching is 50th year in the industry and looking to you the consumer to be a part of this momentous occasion.

“John McDougall 70th Birthday Anniversary bottling In one year’s time I will have reached the age of 70. I thought that I might bring out a limited edition bottling or possibly small series to mark the occasion. The idea would be to incorporate some of the malts from some of the really great distilleries which I have been priveleged to work in and to also commemrorate my 50 years association with the grain/malting/distilling industies in which this journey began in 1960. At the moment it’s only an idea, but one which I aim to develop in the next few months. Any suggestions or other ideas would be welcome- John McDougall”

Happy Fourth of July America

Happy Fourth of July America
by Jeffrey Topping

Well, for those Scott’s, Irish, Welsh, French, German, Swedish, Norwegian’s, Finn’s, Dutch, and etc..who lived in North America in one of the original Continetal Colonies today is a day that has never been forgotten. Today, we celebrate our offical Declaration of Independance from Kingdom of Great Britain and its King which occured on July 4th 1776. .

We celebrate American Exceptionalism which grew out of not having a history of feudal and hierarchical structures such as monarchies and aristocracies. These qualities are Liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, populism, and laissez-faire.

We Declared our Independance on July 2, 1776 and it was “affirmed” by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776.

John Adams, in a letter to his wife Abigail, correctly predicted that the day (he referred to the actions of July 2 not July 4) would be celebrated for as long as the American experiment in government continued.

“The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryump in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.”-John Adams

God Bless America and God Bless our Brave men and women fighting for our Freedom and the Freedom of those less fortunate. We are a Nation of many Nations and not a Nation of one.

Cheers,

The Wild Scotsman Family

Wild Scotsman 15yr Cool Summer Scotch

Wild Scotsman 15yr Cool Summer Scotch
by Jeffrey Topping

Okay, it’s 95 F or 35 C and most people do not reach for a good bottle of Scotch…or do they? If you are drinking the Wild Scotsman 15yr than the answer should be, yes! I created the bottle with an acetate label which will not smear or come off when soaked in water. If you just enjoying drinking on the Patio than keep the bottle in the freezer and enjoy a cold glass without the addition of ice or water. Planning a trip to the golf course? Place the bottle in your cooler packed with ice and wait an hour for the first dram.

As always, Wild Scotsman Whisky does not advocate drinking and driving (even in a golf cart).
